THE NAME OF TRUTH — Poem by Youlika K. Masry

In the streets of the world

Truth is walking veiled

like frightened peregrina

—the sorrow of centuries

in her eyes.

Her Name, A-letheia,

beautiful like a poem,

her Name A-letheia,

diamond worth,

her Name, A-letheia,

accurate like exact science:

that which can never fall

into oblivion, lethe.

Isaiah waved to the maiden

from afar

the Seeed of David

birthed her on the Cross,

the universe witnessed her blood.

To this day

Jews and a litany of Christians

alike

hardly know her Name.
